Essential Kare is family owned and founded by Mike and JoDee Hilgert in August 2001. Their journey began in 2002 when they began providing respite services within their family home for children with complex medical needs, requiring around-the-clock nursing care.
In the spring of 2003, the Hilgert’s built and opened a medically fragile group home for children on the beautiful shores of Sugar Lake, in Wright County Minnesota. This residential program provides a permanent placement for up to 4 individuals with profound disabilities and complex medical needs. The purpose of this medically fragile program was to remove these children from the hospital setting and place them into a home like environment where they could still receive the technology-dependent and high medically based care they required, that are not able to be met within their own family setting. This family-centered environment gives families the ability to remain actively involved in their child/family members medical and personal life, while maintaining a healthy and structured family setting within their home environment.
Our medically fragile group home is staffed with 2 RN/LPN’s on each shift, 24-hours a day, and 7 days a week. Our nurses are dedicated to providing compassionate family-centered care, making the well-being of each individual our number one priority.
In 2010, our medically fragile program became licensed to serve adults as well as children.
Essential Kare is dedicated to providing quality care with the utmost respect for our clients. We strive to meet the needs of an individual and/or family – medically, physically and emotionally. To us, health care is more than just a medical issue. Our entire staff works as a team striving to meet the need of those we serve.
